Due to the festive season, car manufacturers across the country are launching one impressive vehicle after another. While automakers consistently introduce vehicles with various features, many of these vehicles perform poorly in safety ratings.
Recently, several crash test results have surfaced showing poor ratings, yet these vehicles remain popular in the Indian market.
Let’s take a look at which cars continue to sell well despite their low safety ratings.
The first car on the list is Maruti's popular 7-seater, the Ertiga. This vehicle received only a 1-star safety rating in the NCAP crash test. For Adult Occupant Protection, the Ertiga scored 23.63 out of 34 points.
Additionally, it received just 19.40 out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection.
Despite its low safety ratings, the Maruti Ertiga remains the best-selling car in the 7-seater segment.
The second car on the list is the Maruti WagonR, one of the most popular cars in the country, which received a 1-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test.
It scored 19.69 out of 34 points for Adult Occupant Protection, while it received only 3.40 points out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection.
The third car on the list is the Maruti S-Presso, which received only a 1-star rating in the NCAP crash test. It scored 20.03 out of 34 points for Adult Occupant Protection, while it received just 3.52 points out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection.
The fourth car on the list is the Nexa Ignis, an entry-level vehicle available at Nexa dealerships, which received only a 1-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash test. It scored 16.48 out of 34 points for Adult Occupant Protection while it received only 3.86 points out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection.
