According to reports, WhatsApp, the instant messaging service owned by Meta, is developing a new function that would let users share contact cards in a chat on the Windows desktop version. The instant messaging programme is apparently working on this new feature after enabling poll creation within chat sharing sheets, as shown on the Windows beta 2.2247.2.0 upgrade. The most recent beta of the app is available for download through the Microsoft Store for eligible customers. The messaging software appears eager to update its Windows desktop version with new capabilities.
Using the Windows desktop client, WhatsApp users will be able to exchange a contact card within a chat so that the receiver can quickly add it to their address book, according to a report from WhatsApp beta tracker WABetaInfo. The feature's new "Contacts" option can be seen in the Share list in the report's screen grab of the function.
According to the report, WhatsApp users who are using the Windows desktop client would need to select the option to share a contact card. More beta testers will probably have access to the feature in the upcoming days.
In the meantime, WhatsApp unveiled a new tool that enables iOS and Android users to make polls in private and group chats to get feedback from their contacts. Users' responses to a poll question are secured using end-to-end encryption, just as chats.
Group polls are currently supported by Facebook Messenger and Telegram, but WhatsApp users can now quickly start utilising this new feature on their smartphone. It should be noted that only the most recent version of the messaging app is compatible with the new poll feature.
According to reports, WhatsApp is also developing a feature that will enable Android users to export and import their offline chat backups from Google Drive. They have the ability to backup all chat history as well as media files like pictures and videos. This will probably be made available for beta testing on the app soon.
