Indian teams that went to participate in Tokyo Olympics 2020, are leaving no stone unturned so that the enthusiasm does not diminish. Kolkata's Howrah Bridge has been decorated with the colours of different lights in such a way that the enthusiasm of the Indian contingent going to participate in the Tokyo Olympics increases.
Indian shooters began training at the Asaka Shooting Range here four days before the Tokyo Olympics. Shooting events will be held from July 24 to August 2 at the Asaka Range in northwest Tokyo. A shooting event was also held here in the 1964 Olympics.
The National Rifle Association of India tweeted, "The shooters are ready again. Indian shooting contingent begins practice." Rifle coach Suma Shirur tweeted, "It was nice to run 3 km in the morning in the new environment at the Tokyo Games Village 9 (Khel Gaon). There is a different kind of energy and spirit in the Olympics." The Indian contingent consists of eight rifles, five pistols and two skeet shooters along with coaches and support staff.
Here, the dining hall at the Games Village (Khel Gaon) of the Tokyo Olympics is serving dishes from around the world, including Indian lentils and parathas, although the Indian contingent has given a mixed reaction to it. In view of the demand of hot water of the players, more than 100 electronic kettles have been sought from the Indian Embassy.
Kettles are not kept in the rooms in Khelgaon. Along with this, cleaning of rooms will be done once in three days in an exercise to keep personal contact to a minimum due to the Corona epidemic. Most of the players from India reached here on Sunday and have spent two days in the Khelgaon.
Indian team's deputy chief Prem Verma said on Monday, "The players need kettles. They have to drink hot water in the morning. We have requested the Indian Embassy to make arrangements for this.
A team official told that the rooms are good but they have not been cleaned since Sunday. To this, Verma said, "The local organizing committee will get the cleaning done every three days to keep the contact minimal. If someone needs cleaning everyday, then you can say. Towels can be changed daily.
Table tennis player G Sathiyan told that he has no problem with the facilities of food and exercise. At the same time, an official said that desi food can be better. Sathiyan said, "I ate dal and paratha yesterday which was good."
At the same time, the official said, "I will ask Indians to taste Continental or Japanese food. Indian food is average and sometimes it is also raw." However, Verma said, "When coming to another country, one should adopt the culture of that country, which includes food and drink. Good Indian food is being served here. Now what you get in your country should not be compared with that.
