Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi made an announcement on Tuesday. she said that her party would give 40 percent tickets to women in the UP assembly elections.

The criticism from the Mamata Banerjee party comes at a time when both Congress and TMC are trying to lead the opposition against the Bharatiya Janata Party. Responding to Trinamool Congress's tweet, senior Congress leader Pradeep Bhattacharya said the party has not learned from Trinamool on women empowerment in politics. He said that it is the Trinamool Congress, which is trying to emulate the Congress and trying to drag our leaders into its fold.
