After 50 years, the Indian team was able to win a Test match at The Oval. Earlier, under the captaincy of Ajit Wadekar, the Indian team had defeated England by 4 wickets in 1971. Also, this is the first time since 1986 that the Indian team has been successful in winning two Test matches on a tour of England.
The final match of the series between India and England will now be played on the Manchester ground from September 10. If the Manchester Test is a draw or Team India is successful in winning, then after the year 2007, India will be able to win the Test series in England.
