After the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor, the Punjab Government's visit to Pakistan will begin tomorrow. Tomorrow i.e. on November 18, CM Charanjit Channi will go to Kartarpur on the first day. He will be accompanied by 10 ministers and some MLAs. The government has decided on this program after the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday evening. Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Sidhu can also go to Pakistan. Although he will go with the government or alone, it is not clear. Sidhu definitely said that he will register as a devotee, if he is approved then he will definitely go.
Prior to this, Captain Amarinder Singh as CM has also visited Shri Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan via Kartarpur Corridor. This corridor was opened for the first time on 9 November 2019. After this, on November 27, Amarinder went to Pakistan through the corridor along with his cabinet colleagues.
There has been a credit war since the beginning regarding the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor. The corridor first came into the limelight when Sidhu hugged Pak Army, Chief Bajwa. Sidhu went to the swearing-in ceremony of Pak PM. He later said that Bajwa talked about opening the corridor, due to which he was blown away by emotions. After some time, the central government opened the corridor. However, this demand has been around for a long time.
There is a lot of credit war going on in Punjab regarding the reopening of the Kartarpur Corridor. Punjab BJP leaders are calling it their effort. At the same time, CM Channi said that he had written a letter along with meeting the PM and the Home Minister. Sukhbir Badal said that they too were continuously asking for letters. Captain Amarinder Singh also kept raising this demand through tweets. In such a situation, by going to Kartarpur Sahib in the first batch, Channi Sarkar also wants to remain in the headlines of the news of the corridor.
