ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021: India and Pakistan Placed in Group 2 of Super 12

India and Pakistan will once again meet in the T20 World Cup, as both the teams have got a place in the same group in the Super-12 stage. Both these teams are in Group II. Teams from New Zealand and Afghanistan are also in this group. At the same time, England, Australia, South Africa, and West Indies have been kept in Group-1 of Super-12. There will be six teams in each group. The other teams in the group will be decided by the results of the qualifier rounds of the World Cup.

Explain that the T20 World Cup 2021 will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman instead of India due to the Corona epidemic. The tournament will begin on October 17 while the final will be played on November 14. The 16-team tournament will be played in three UAE cities (Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi) and Oman.

India-Pakistan will clash again after about two and a half years

Let us tell you that after two and a half years, there will be a clash between the two teams in any major ICC tournament. Earlier, both the teams had faced each other during the World Cup on 16 June 2019. In this match, India defeated Pakistan by 89 runs (based on Duckworth-Lewis rule). Earlier in the year 2016, both the teams had come face to face during the T20 World Cup. In this match, India defeated Pakistan by six wickets. At the same time, in any major ICC tournament, the two teams met about two and a half years ago. The two teams met during the 2019 World Cup.

BCCI officials are on tour in Dubai and Oman

The BCCI officials are currently on tour in Dubai and Oman. Here he has come to take stock of the preparations for the T20 World Cup. The officials will visit the stadiums here and hold talks on issues related to the World Cup. Apart from this, the officials will also discuss the teams' travel plans as the qualifiers are to be held there, the day after tomorrow, i.e. on 17th July in Dubai with ICC. ECB officials will also be present there.

Four teams will qualify in the first round

According to media reports, there will be 12 matches in Round-1 while eight teams will be involved. Four of these (top two from each group) will qualify for Super 12. Four qualified teams from eight teams (Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Namibia, Oman, Papua New Guinea) will advance to the Super 12 by joining the top eight ranked T20 teams. The first round will take place in Oman and a UAE venue, giving enough time to prepare the pitches in the UAE main grounds for the Super 12 matches.

There will be 30 matches in the Super-12 stage

The Super 12 phase, consisting of 30 matches, is likely to begin from October 24. Teams in the Super 12 will be divided into two groups of six each, which will be played at three venues in the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah). This will be followed by three playoff matches, two semi-finals, and a final.
