LIVE Updates: Calcutta HC Orders CBI Inquiry into the Post-Poll Violence in BengalThe Calcutta High Court has ordered a court-monitored CBI inquiry into the post-poll violence in West Bengal. For this SIT will be formed. Senior state cadre officers will be a part of this SIT. The court said in its decision that the CBI will investigate cases of more importance, including unnatural death, murder and rape, while the investigation of comparatively less important cases will be with the SIT.

The number of corona tests in the country crossed 50 crores

The number of people who got the corona test done in the country has crossed 50 crores. ICMR said that in August, on average, more than 17 lakh people were tested every day. In the last 55 days, more than ten crore people were tested.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to preside over UNSC briefing

To attend two high-level events this week under the chairmanship of India's Security Council, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is at the headquarters of the United Nations (UNSC) in New York. Jaishankar on Wednesday chaired the open debate of the UNSC on the topic 'Technology and Peacebuilding'. Today he will preside over the debate on security matters. In today's debate, there is every possibility of debate on the Afghanistan issue.

Earlier on Wednesday, on the topic 'Technology and Peacekeeping', Jaishankar said that in the 21st century, peacekeeping should be built on a strong foundation of technology and innovation. The External Affairs Minister further said that in March this year, India had provided 2 lakh corona vaccines to UN peacekeeping personnel across the world as part of its commitment to 'protect the defenders'. He said that India is playing a very important role in international peace and security.
