Mahant Ravindra Puri was elected as the new president of Akhara Parishad in the meeting of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad held at Daraganj Niranjani Akhara on Monday. Seven Akharas together took the decision by majority.

The largest organization was running vacant

Some saints said that Mahant Narendra Giri was the secretary of Niranjani Akhara and for the second time in the Kumbh of Haridwar, he was elected president of the Akhara Parishad. His term was still complete. Therefore, on the basis of sympathy, this post should remain with Niranjani only. Although many Akharas including Juna had claimed for this post, Mahant Ravindra Puri, Secretary of Niranjani Akhara, was considered to be the frontrunner in the race for the post of President.
