New Delhi: The dissatisfaction of the leaders within the Congress party is increasing continuously. According to the report of news agency PTI, during the last seven years, the maximum number of MPs, MLAs, and candidates left Congress and joined other parties. Interestingly, the BJP was the biggest gainer during this period. Most of the leaders are associated with the BJP. This has been revealed by the report of the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), an election watchdog.
The ADR, in its report released after studying the election affidavits of the candidates, has said that during the year 2014 to 2021, a total of 222 candidates left the Congress and joined other parties. Not only this, during these seven years 177 MPs and MLAs also left Congress. However, during these seven years, 115 candidates along with 61 MPs and MLAs from other parties also joined the Congress.
According to the report, from 2014 to 2021, 111 candidates also separated from the BJP. Not only this, during these seven years, 33 MPs/MLAs left the BJP. The ADR found that during these seven years, 253 candidates had left other parties and joined the BJP. Not only this, 173 MPs and MLAs also joined the BJP during this period. Altogether, during these seven years, 1133 candidates and 500 MPs-MLAs switched parties and tried their hand at elections.
According to the report of the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), Bahujan Samaj Party was the second party after Congress, with the maximum number of candidates and MPs-MLAs parted ways. During the last seven years, a total of 153 candidates left the BSP and joined other parties. Not only this, 20 MPs and MLAs also left the BSP. However, a total of 12 MPs and MLAs and 65 candidates also joined the BSP.
Twenty RJD candidates and 11 MPs-MLAs left the party, while 15 candidates and six MPs-MLAs from other parties joined the RJD. NCP lost 52 candidates and 25 MLAs-MPs and 41 candidates and eight MPs-MLAs joined it. In the last seven years, CPI was bid farewell by 13 of its candidates and two MPs-MLAs and five candidates joined it. 13 of its candidates and six MP-MLAs parted ways from the CPI(M), while only one candidate joined the party.
