The central government has taken a major decision related to the northeast state of Nagaland and declared Nagaland as a 'disturbed area' for the next 6 months. This decision has been taken for Nagaland by the end of December.

Union Home Ministry has issued a notification related to this on Tuesday

The Union Home Ministry has issued a notification related to this on Tuesday and it has been said by the government that the situation in Nagaland is so disturbing and dangerous that the assistance of the armed forces is necessary.

"In view of the situation, the Union Government has announced that in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 (AFSPA), the Union Government has announced that from June 30, 2020, for 6 months, the entire state will be considered as a 'disturbed area'.

Significantly, Nagaland is the state where AFSPA law has been in force for almost 6 decades. The Naga peace deal was signed on 3 August 2015 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government had signed a peace deal with the Naga separatist organization NSCN (IM). Let us tell you that separatist movement has been going on in Nagaland for a long time and this movement is divided into many groups. The NSCN (I-M) had also demanded separate flags and a constitution which was rejected by the central government. However, the solution of this issue has not been found out yet and in view of the situation, the Central Government has declared Nagaland as a disturbed area for 6 months.
