On the last day of the monsoon session of Parliament, 12 MPs who were suspended from the Rajya Sabha for misbehaving with the marshals in the House are likely to meet Vice President Venkaiah Naidu today. These MPs have been completely suspended from the ongoing winter session from Monday. A meeting of opposition parties is to be held today regarding this suspension. The Aam Aadmi Party will also participate in the meeting.
Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said the opposition parties are meeting today to discuss the future course of action. He said that the question of apologizing does not arise. The MPs were suspended against the rules of the House. The action of suspension of 12 MPs is like throttling the voice of the opposition in Rajya Sabha.
Kharge said that if the voices of those who raise their voice for others are suppressed, it amounts to throttling democracy. We condemn it, all parties condemn it. We will have a meeting on Monday to discuss the strategy ahead. It is being told that the opposition MPs will hold a meeting before meeting Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu.
Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh on Monday announced the names of the suspended MPs. These include 6 Congress MPs: Phulo Devi Netam, Chhaya Verma, Ripun Bora, Rajmani Patel, Syed Nasir Hussain, Akhilesh Prasad Singh. Dola Sen and Shanta Chhetri have been suspended from Mamata Banerjee's party TMC. Apart from this, Priyanka Chaturvedi and Anil Desai are included in Shiv Sena. At the same time, CPM's Elaram Karim and CPI's Binoy Vishwam are also included in the list of suspended MPs.
