The Puducherry Assembly passed a resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act. With this, Puducherry became the sixth assembly to adopt the anti-CAA proposal after West Bengal, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Puducherry's chief minister V. Narayanasamy said that the proposal has been passed in the Puducherry Assembly urging the Center to withdraw the amended citizenship law.
Earlier, the MLAs of AIADMK and All India NR Congress boycotted the proceedings of the House. The MLA did not reach the assembly. At the same time, three BJP MLAs also walked out of the assembly after proposing against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Then, a special assembly session was called to present the proposal.
Puducherry Governor Kiran Bedi wrote a letter to CM Narayanasamy two days ago, saying that the Act passed by the Parliament has been implemented for the Union Territory and cannot be manipulated or questioned in any way.
