BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday. During this, he discussed various issues including violence against BJP workers after the Bengal assembly elections. It is worth noting that even after the assembly elections in West Bengal, there is a tussle between TMC and BJP.
Mr Adhikari, a former minister in the last Mamata Banerjee-cabinet, had joined the BJP before the 2021 state assembly elections. It was his first meeting after becoming the Leader of Opposition in the state assembly. He also met Union minister Mansukh Mandviya and will meet BJP national president JP Nadda,
According to media reports, Suvendu is on a two-day visit to Delhi. After meeting Amit Shah, he is also scheduled to meet BJP National President JP Nadda and PM Modi. He had reached Delhi last night. BJP had expressed concern about the violence after the elections in West Bengal.
Even after the assembly elections in West Bengal, there is a dispute between TMC and BJP. In the assembly elections, Adhikari defeated Mamata Banerjee from Nandigram. His meeting with top brass of the BJP comes days after his presence in the PM Modi-Mamata Banerjee meet over the review of cyclone Yaas – something that had irked the Mamata Banerjee. According to sources, Mamata Banerjee had arrived late at the review meeting and left after submitting a report on the impact of the cyclone.
