Across the country, the weather is turning cooler. A continual reduction in temperature is being recorded due to rain, snowfall, and a cold wave. North India is experiencing cold winds. Snowfall in several steep places and rain in the lowlands have caused a change in the weather. From Jammu and Kashmir to Rajasthan, the winter season has gotten longer. In many regions of Bihar, it is raining. From January 11th to 13th, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow signal for Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.
Clouds are having an impact in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. Heavy rain is expected in various parts of East India due to a western disturbance, according to the Meteorological Department. Cold winds have swept through Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, causing temperatures to plummet.
On the other side, it is currently snowing in most parts of Jammu & Kashmir. The snowfall that has been falling for the past seven days has exacerbated the people's problems. Many records were broken due to the extreme cold. Temperatures are 4-6 degrees lower than typical. Many of the roads in this area are covered in snow. Due to the severe snowfall, vehicle travel is also hampered.
Roads are blocked in numerous regions, causing daily life to be disrupted. Although work to clear snow from roadways is ongoing in many regions, life has come to a halt as a result of the intermittent rain and snowfall. Rain, snowfall, and snowstorms are all expected in the coming weeks, according to the Meteorological Department.
Uttarakhand has also experienced a drop in temperature. People in various parts of the state including Chopta have sighed a sigh of relief as the snowfall has ceased. At the tourist point in Rudraprayag, several feet of snow have been frozen. About five feet of snow has fallen in three days. For the past four days, traffic on the roadway has been completely halted. The cold has also become more prevalent in the area.
The lowest temperature ever recorded was minus 3 degrees. Snowfall of one and a half to two feet has fallen in Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh. The roads are covered in snow. Tourists from other states are flocking to the area to enjoy the snowfall, but they are encountering significant difficulties. Due to the snow on the roadways, cars are becoming enmeshed. People had been waiting for hours for the traffic to clear.
On Tuesday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a "Yellow Alert" for the Vidarbha area of Maharashtra, predicting mild to moderate rain and thundershowers over the next two days. Many districts in East Vidarbha, including Nagpur, suffered hailstorms and rain on Tuesday, according to IMD. According to the official, the IMD's Regional Meteorological Center in Nagpur has issued a 'yellow' advisory for the Vidarbha districts of Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Gondia, Bhandara, and Gadchiroli until Thursday.
