The two-match Test series between hosts West Indies and Pakistan will begin from Wednesday. Meanwhile, the West Indies squad has been announced for the first match of this test series. The selection panel of Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced a 13-man squad for the first Test against Pakistan, which also includes off-spinner Roston Chase.
Talking about Chase, he has so far taken 69 wickets in 35 Test matches for the Caribbean team. The two-match Test series will be played at Sabina Park. Earlier on Monday, West Indies announced a 17-man provisional squad for the Test series against Pakistan. However, 17 players will still travel with the team, as four players have been kept as reserves, including Shamrah Brooks, Rakim Cornwall, Jahmar Hamilton and Chemar Holder.
Both teams will begin their campaign for the new ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. West Indies and Pakistan finished 8th and 6th respectively in the last WTC cycle. In current form, Pakistan has won their last four Tests. West Indies, on the other hand, are yet to get a single win in their last four Test matches. In such a situation, there will be pressure on the hosts.
Meanwhile, Roger Harper, chief of the selection panel said, "I expect the team to be highly competitive in every department while playing with passion, purpose and determination. I look forward to the batsmen stepping up as they did in the series against Bangladesh and against Sri Lanka earlier this year in Antigua."
Craig Brathwaite (Captain), Jermaine Blackwood (Vice-Captain), Nkrumah Bonner, Roston Chase, Joshua da Silva, Jason Holder, Shai Hope, Alzarri Joseph, Kyle Meyers, Kieran Powell, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seals, Jomel Warrican.
Reserves: Shamrah Brooks, Rakim Cornwall, Jahmar Hamilton and Chemar Holder
