A recent incident at a Hindu temple highlights the chaos that has erupted in Bangladesh since the ousting of the Sheikh Hasina government.

While Durga Puja festivities are in full swing during Navratri and devotees are honoring Goddess Kali, the crown of Goddess Kali was stolen from the Jeshoreshwari Temple, Satkhira, Bangladesh.

Stolen Crown was a Gift from PM Modi

The stolen crown was a gift from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During his visit to Bangladesh in March 2021, he offered the crown to the deity at the Jeshoreshwari Temple. However, it has now been stolen.

According to a report by The Daily Star, the theft occurred on Thursday between 2 and 2:30 PM, when the priest left for home after performing the day's rituals.

It was later discovered by the cleaning staff that the crown was missing from the head of Goddess Kali. The incident was subsequently reported to the police.

PM Visited Goddess Kali During His Trip to Bangladesh

During his visit to Bangladesh on March 27, 2021, PM Modi visited this temple and offered the crown. He also shared a video of his visit to the temple. This trip marked PM Modi's first foreign visit after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Features of the Stolen Crown of Goddess Kali

The crown, gifted to the temple by PM Modi, was made of silver and coated with gold. It held significant cultural and religious importance.

According to Hindu beliefs, the Jeshoreshwari temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas located in India and neighboring countries. The name Jeshoreshwari means "the goddess of Jeshore."
