Along with the central institutions, in almost all the states of the country, the process of entering the MBBS and BDS courses in the medical colleges of the country is underway. Meanwhile, in one state private medical colleges have decided to increase the fees for MBBS from this academic session (2019-20) to 10 percent. This state is Kerala. In Kerala's private medical colleges, this session fees will increase by 10 percent. In this regard, the fees Regulatory Committee for Medical Education has issued the order.

Now the fees for Kerala's private medical colleges will be around 7.20 lakh per annum. Earlier this fee was about 5.85 lakh per year. Last year, in the private colleges of Kerala, the students were charged 5.32 lakh rupees and 6.54 lakh rupees per year.

According to the report, Justice R. Rajendra Babu, Chairman of the Fees Regulatory Committee for Medical Education in Kerala has said that he has issued orders to increase the tuition fee of 10 percent from this academic session. The information will also be issued by the government. If the students are charged more than the prescribed limit, then they will be taken as capitation fees.

However, private medical colleges are not happy with this decision. They can appeal against this in the Supreme Court. In fact, colleges had proposed to increase fees between 11 to 20 percent. But approval has been given only a 10 percent increase in fees.
