Liquor and Cash Recovered of Rs 3331 Crore in Lok Sabha Elections

Illegal liquor, cash, and jewelry worth Rs 3331 crore have been seized during the Lok Sabha elections so far. It is being told that this amount is only a little less than the total expenditure of the previous Lok Sabha elections.

According to the Election Commission data, illegal liquor, cash, and jewelry worth Rs 3331 crore have been seized so far in the first four phases of Lok Sabha elections. While the total expenditure of the Commission in the completion of the 2014 Lok Sabha election was Rs. 3870 crores.

However, the polling for the three phases of the elections is yet to be held. The cost of the illegal material seized during this period is going to touch the figure of three times as compared to the previous election. The total value of the illegal material seized in the 2014 Lok Sabha election by the Commission was Rs. 1200 crores. The Commission's statistics show that after the implementation of the Code of Conduct for Lok Sabha elections on March 10, the maximum amount of illegal material caught is of narcotics till May 4. The commission's inspector groups have caught 66.47 kilograms of narcotics so far. It's the market price is close to Rs. 1238.89 crores

Uttar Pradesh is the top with the maximum catching of more than 20 thousand kg of narcotics. Maharashtra is in third place with 16 thousand kilograms of narcotics and Madhya Pradesh with another 15 thousand kg. According to the news agency, in the last election, drugs worth Rs 804 crore rupees were seized.

In this election, jewelry worth 975 crores has been seized in less than two months. In Tamil Nadu, 3070 kg of gold, silver and other precious ornaments have been seized. It's the market price is close to Rs 708 crores. Madhya Pradesh is in second place with the seizure of 1354 kg and Uttar Pradesh is in third place with the seizure of 709 kg.

According to the Commission's figures, more than twice the amount has been seized so far in this election compared to the last election. Cash of Rs 799 crore has been seized across the country till May 4. In the last election, it was worth 304 crores. Tamil Nadu is the top in terms of cash in terms of precious jewelry. So far, illegal cash of Rs 216 crore has been seized in the state. In Andhra Pradesh, 137 and in Telangana, illegal amount of more than 70 crore rupees was seized.
