Four people have got light from the eyes of Puneeth Rajkumar, who left the world on October 29. Like his mother, Puneeth used to be involved in charity work. For this reason he had resolved to donate his eyes. It was completed after his death. Puneeth's eyes were donated to Narayan Nethralaya Eye Hospital. Puneeth's father actor Rajkumar also donated his eyes.
Kannada film actor Puneeth died of a heart attack during a workout at the gym. Soon after the heart attack, Puneeth was admitted to Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru but could not be saved. After Puneeth's death, all theaters in the state were closed and Section 144 was imposed in many areas.
Dr. Bhujang Shetty, Chairman and Managing Director, Narayana Nethralaya, said that they separated the main and deep layers of the cornea. Each eye was used to treat two patients. In which one woman and the other three men were involved.
Kannada actor Chetan wrote a post on his social media that- 'when I went to the hospital for the last glimpse of Appu sir, a team of doctors operated and removed his eyes within 6 hours of his death. Appu sir has also donated his eyes like Dr. Rajkumar. We should all take an oath to donate our eyes by following the path shown by Appu sir and in his memory. I will also donate my eyes'.
Puneeth's father Rajkumar has been an icon of the South. Puneeth started his career as a child actor. He received the National Award for Best Child Actor for the film 'Bettad Hoovu'. He started his career as a lead actor with the film 'Appu'. Puneeth is known for his strong acting in films like Aakash (2005), Arasu (2007), Milan (2007) and Vanshi (2008), which are his biggest commercial hits to date.
Puneeth was last seen in 'Yuvarathnaa', which released earlier this year. Such was the craze for his films in the South that once his 14 films were made in cinema houses for at least 100 consecutive days.
In his short life span of 46 years, Puneeth was also a power star of philanthropy. He could not hear anything against religions. Even during the Corona pandemic, Puneeth donated 50 lakh rupees to the CM Relief Fund.
Puneeth took the responsibility of higher education of 45 schools, 26 orphanages, 16 old age homes, 19 gaushalas and 1800 orphan girls. After Puneeth's departure, actor Vishal has announced that he will take up the responsibility of education of orphan girls.
