The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine is becoming increasingly dangerous. The eyes of the whole world are fixed on this war. Ukraine's luxurious buildings have become a ruin in the attack of missiles. Russia has taken control of most of Ukraine's cities except two cities- Kharkiv and Kyiv, and its tanks are making constant attempts to break into the capital Kyiv. Not only buildings have been destroyed in the missile attack, but many people have also lost their lives. Amidst all this, Russian President Vladimir Putin has put the country's nuclear forces on 'special alert'. Not only Ukraine but the whole world is worried about his move.
Millions of people have left Ukraine, so now Russia has made an indirect threat of nuclear attack. However, analysts believe that Putin has made this threat to prevent any other country from joining Russia's war with Ukraine. Amidst this threat from Putin, US President Joe Biden also retaliated, saying that American citizens need not fear and America will not back down from responding.
A total of 80 countries of the world have nuclear weapons which guarantee national security to the country. Nuclear weapons produce large amounts of radiation and the effects of their explosions can last for generations. There have been two nuclear attacks in the world, about 77 years ago, the US carried out these attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, in which more than 1.50 lakh people were killed. According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, the number of atomic bombs with the countries of the world is as follows-
On the other hand, Russia has 1185 intercontinental ballistic missiles, 800 submarine-launched missiles and 580 air-launched missiles from nuclear bombers.
On the other hand, if we talk about the damage caused by nuclear weapons, it can not only kill large number of people but the coming generations can also be destroyed by it. Imagine that if a nuclear weapon of 100 kilotons explodes at someplace, then the entire area within a radius of 2 kilometres can be destroyed, while 3 to 5 kilometres can cause heavy damage. It can cause damage up to 10 km. Atomic bombs can weigh up to a thousand kilotons.
