Even after 7 years of the alleged murder of Sheena Bora, the police could not find its clue. The doctor who posted the postmortem of Sheena Bora's skeleton told the court, "I have not been able to know the real cause of death till date."
Dr. Sanjay Thakur, a doctor of the BYL Nair Hospital, had done a post-mortem of Sheena Bora's skeleton, which was pulled out in 2012 by digging the land. In connection with government lawyer Ejaz Khan, Dr. Sanjay Thakur said that samples of skin, teeth, hair, and bones were taken from the skeleton so that DNA tests can be done. The doctor kept bones and teeth samples in a jar while keeping the skin and hair in the other jar, it was sealed and handed over to the police.
The lawyer present on behalf of the accused Indrani Mukherjee, Sudeep Pasboola, spoke about the lack in the doctor's investigation and said that the reason for death is still unknown. In response, Dr. Sanjay Thakur said that the body was half burnt and the rust was removed in the lane, so the real causes of death are not known.
Inspector Vinod Bhagwat of Pen Police Station was present in the court, and he told that at the time of the removal of the body, he was present at the excavated place. Inspector said that no FIR was lodged till that time. According to the CBI, the murder of Sheena Bora of Guwahati was done by her mother Indrani Mukherjee in 2012. Sheena's body was buried in Pen's forest after the murder, which was addressed by local villagers on May 23, 2012. After sampling the body, he was buried again. However, after the case came in light in 2015, the body was re-excavated and thoroughly examined.
According to the investigating agency, Sheena was assassinated because she was demanding a flat in Mumbai. The CBI charge sheet says that Sheena Bora was blackmailing her mother. Indrani Mukherjee and her husband, Peter Mukherjee, were also upset that Peter's son Rahul was in relation with Sheena. So far, the CBI has presented 52 witnesses in the court and the statements of more witnesses will be recorded in the coming time.
