Tributes were paid to the late House members on the first day of the Winter Session of Parliament. In both Houses of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, tribute was paid to the late BJP leader Arun Jaitley before the proceedings of the House began. Recalling Jaitley's contribution to the House, the Rajya Sabha Chairman described him as a prolific genius. In the Lok Sabha also, Speaker Om Birla paid tribute to him and said that Jaitley will always be remembered for upholding the parliamentary traditions with dignity with the development of the nation.

Jaitley, who was the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and later Leader of the House, was a Rajya Sabha MP at the time of his death. Recalling the former finance minister, Venkaiah Naidu looked very emotional for a few moments, but he managed himself. Remembering Jaitley's contribution, Naidu said that he always adhered to parliamentary decorum while being Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the House. Recalling Jaitley as a pro-democracy supporter, he said that he had been in the special category in the Rajya Sabha since 2000 due to his scholarship and talent.

Opposition MPs also shared intimate affair with Jaitley

In a tribute to Arun Jaitley, opposition MPs also shared their personal friendship. Congress party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad described Jaitley as a skilled convenor in the House, saying, "I knew him for a long time and he topped every field of life." Jaitley was a good student, a good coordinator and a big leader. I lost my good friend as him. ' NCP chief Sharad Pawar also recalled Jaitley, saying that he was a Hardy Aziz personality apart from the party line and he had many friends in every party in the House.

Jaitley breathed his last on August 24

Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley died on August 24 after a long illness. Jaitley refused to join the cabinet after the Lok Sabha elections due to poor health. Jaitley was the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha from 2009 to 2014 and was elected Leader of the House in 2014. In the first term of the Modi government, he held the post of Finance Minister, he also served as the Defense Minister for some time.
